“Setting Personal Boundaries Is Crucial To Your Well Being
Personal boundaries are the physical and emotional limits we place to protect ourselves from being used or violated by others. Personal boundaries are guidelines that you create to identify for yourself what are reasonable or safe for other people to behave around you and how you will react when someone steps outside those limits.
Setting healthy boundaries involves taking care of yourself and knowing what you like, don’t like, or need. Setting healthy boundaries means maintaining your purity, and taking accountability for who you are and controlling your destiny. Setting boundaries reflects your desire to say “no” to those things that aren’t right for you. Setting boundaries is crucial to your well being and self esteem. Setting your own personal boundaries appropriately will actually be a positive force in your life.
If you are worn out mentally and physically from putting everyone else first, you can not only destroy your own health, but you also deprive everyone else of being fully engaged in their own lives. Instead, you should encourage everyone to contribute and to take care of him or herself.
Allowing others to violate your boundaries may not only cost you time and patience, it can cost you money. Knowing how to set good boundaries—and sticking to them—can mean the difference between failure and success in relationships, work, financial security, and your own sense of self worth. Making a clear boundary between work and personal time is crucial if you are to have healthy relationships with your family.
Learning to assert yourself in a way that gets your point across with elegance and fashion is part of becoming a strong leader. It takes some practice and a lot of courage. Learning to set healthy boundaries is crucial to learning to love yourself. Learning to say “no” can be scary sometimes, but it’s important to believe that you have the inner strength and confidence to stand firm in your decisions.
If you have experienced any of the above, then you have taken the first step in setting your personal boundaries: awareness. When it comes to setting your own personal boundaries, it is crucial to set them in such a manner that they will help you build healthy relationships, and enable you to control your own destiny.
